In Spite of Everything by Coty Schwabe

Lotsa Lighter Colors

The first thing I think you’ll notice about In Spite of Everything is the colors.

This piece has a lot of colors that are generally less aggressive than I normally use. There’s no black or white – which I use on most pieces – nor is there any red. This softer palette allows the piece to fit in with a calming – almost delightful – effect, without screaming at anyone who sees it.

About that Square Life

Ever since I created Cascading Crosses (a piece with several colored crosses layered on top of one another), I had been toying with the idea of creating a painting in layers again. Combining that concept with the scraping that I normally do, I went ahead and layer these thick, solid squares (or rectangles) on top of one another until it came out the way it did.

In Spite of What?

I named this one the name I did because of the fact that I tend to mess up a lot of pieces when trying something new. I expected this to turn out the same way as most of mine do – badly.

Not only that, but on a deeper level, this piece is much lighter, and bouncier than many of my other pieces. Its light, airy feel, gives you a sense of comfort and hope. A feeling that, despite what happens, everything will work itself out.

But In Spite of Everything, it turned out better than expected, and I’m proud to present it to you.

About this Item

This is a one of a kind piece. Acrylic/gloss enamel on Canvas. This is NOT a print or copy, it is unique. Signed and dated on the back by the artist. Sides are painted either a solid color that matches the piece, or continuing complimentary colors. INCLUDES CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY.

This item ships AS IS. I don’t attach wire so that you can hang any direction you want. This piece can easily be hung with two small screws or nails, and can be hung from the outer frame or the cross bar (I have found this to be the more study way to do it). You could also attach wire or small hanging clips if you wish. Hanging suggestions included with purchase.

Want a Different Version?

Like the piece but want something a tad different? Maybe a slightly different color scheme or size? No worries! I’d love to work with you in creating a custom piece to fit your home, business, or lifestyle! The final price would depend on materials and size, but if you don’t like the final product – you don’t buy it! That easy.
